VE Cosmetics is an independent UK beauty brand founded by Lynsey. The brand was built on a love of alternative beauty and a refusal to compromise on ethics (Lynsey is Vegan), VE Cosmetics has been fully vegan and cruelty free from the beginning. What started as one woman’s frustration with the lack of genuinely ethical alternative makeup became a brand known for gothic artistry, strong values, and products created without cutting corners. 

Lynsey, known to many as VioletEyes, came to beauty from both a scientific and creative background. With a degree in Biochemistry and Medical Physics, she worked as a clinical scientist before stepping fully into the beauty world. At the same time, she was active in the alternative modelling scene, using her platform to speak up for animal rights and support rescue causes. 

The turning point came through frustration. On shoots, vegan and cruelty free makeup was far harder to find than it should have been, so Lynsey began making her own products rather than compromise her ethics. That experience became the foundation of VE Cosmetics: a brand created for people who wanted bold beauty without watered down values. 

Founded on 1 June 2015, VE Cosmetics was built to prove that alternative beauty can be high quality, distinctive, and completely aligned with compassion. From the beginning, the mission was simple: create products that feel expressive, perform beautifully, and stay true to the ethics behind them.

Disability-Led by Design

VE Cosmetics is shaped not only by ethics, but by lived experience. As a disability led brand the founder is AuDHD, with Tourette’s, OCD, CPTSD, fibromyalgia, and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, accessibility, comfort, and usability matter deeply to how we approach beauty.

That lived experience influences the way we think about products, from texture and sensory feel to wearability and ease of use. Not everyone enjoys heavy, overwhelming, or uncomfortable formulas, and beauty should feel good on the skin as well as look good.

For us, inclusivity is not an afterthought. It is part of how we create, select, and refine products with care for different sensitivities, needs, and lived experiences.

Customers often ask Lynsey to attend markets, pop ups, and festival events, but disability means that is not always possible. VE Cosmetics has been built with honesty around those realities, and with the belief that different ways of working and creating are no less valid.

Beauty Without Compromise

At VE Cosmetics,  cruelty free is not a trend, and vegan is not an afterthought. We do not test on animals, commission animal testing, or work with suppliers who do. We do not sell in countries where animal testing is required by law, and since launch no VE product has ever included ingredients tested on animals.

Those standards are part of how the brand was built and how it continues to grow. VE was created to offer something stronger than surface level ethics: beauty that is bold in style, clear in purpose, and consistent in practice. 

Science, Ethics and Independent Beauty

VE Cosmetics was shaped by both creativity and scientific understanding. Behind the scenes, Lynsey has also supported manufacturers with vegan reformulation, helping encourage wider access to more ethical alternatives within the beauty industry. That work reflects the same values the brand was founded on: do better, be honest, and never treat ethics as a marketing extra.

As an independent brand, VE has always taken a different path. Gothic, alternative, and unapologetically individual, it exists for people who want products that reflect both their style and their principles.

Beyond the Product

VE Cosmetics stands for more than what is in the box. The brand has publicly supported ethical causes, including standing with The League Against Cruel Sports for the Business Without Bloodsports pledge, Become a corporate supporter of Replacing Animal Research and has invested in wider environmental action through tree planting and sustainability efforts. 

For us, beauty should never come at the expense of animals, integrity, or the world around us. That belief runs through everything we create.

💚We do not commission, condone, or collaborate with any entity that does. We also do not commission anyone to do this on our behalf. 

🐇We refuse to purchase ingredients from suppliers who engage in animal testing. 

💚Since our launch on 01.06.2015, no product has ever included ingredients tested on animals and no finished product ever will.

🐇We also refuse to sell in countries where animal testing is required by law.
